Sugar, ah honey honey...

Hello!
It has been a little quiet around here just lately! It seems, I have mislaid my mojo...not sure where it has gone but I am hoping it returns soon!
Sewing and making are a little limited at the moment and because I wanted to touch base with you, I thought I would walk around our house and take a few photos of some of my 'things' that make me happy!

French linen...adore it, handwoven, slubby, imperfect, monogrammed gorgeousness. Can't get enough of it.
Buttons... I have been collecting buttons for a long time now and they don't really come anymore gorgeous than these m o p carved French beauties...

Just a few pretties...a painted powder puff box with a tiny round box sitting on top, which was a gift from a lovely lady. Hand carved doggies and a tiny nest...I adore nests, to me they are small miraculous sculptures. One pleasure of winter is to see dark nests sitting in bare branches.

A darling little teddy, at least 60 years old and a papier mache painted box given to me by a very dear friend.
More pretties...

French bowl with French mop buttons, hand carved stone and a bone tatting shuttle thingy...
Back of a picture, which is definitely more pleasing than the front A vtg Ostrich feather and a small collection of handmade vessels, made in Shropshire.
I have been collecting empty domed glass picture frames and just lying them on the mantelpiece, alongside family photographs and a vintage wax orange blossom wedding head piece.
.
Another domed picture frame and two more vintage tiaras. How I love them, they give me the greatest pleasure every time I look at them..to me they are exquisite.

and finally, on my tour of household pretties, a stunning glass slipper...the one that Cinderella lost, I believe...
and speaking of things that make me happy, have a look at these two little button noses ...
Thank you so much, once again to everyone that has followed, commented and written to me, so very much appreciated.
Thanks for stopping by. x

tell me now, is it so, don't let me be the last to know...

Hello,
firstly, thank you so much to everyone that has visited my blog and kindly left a comment. I have been very fortunate to have been in receipt of many kind comments and lots of advice. All of which I have been very grateful to receive. Thank you so much.
Unfortunately things haven't improved much on the health side of things. Being off work sick is very stressful and now I am unable to sew, amongst many other things! Ugh!!!
Anyway, it's not all gloom and doom around here. I wanted to show you some lovely purchases I made recently....
This darling little beaded evening bag, all of three inches across. It's hard to explain just how gorgeous it is!
These sweet little bootees, which I am very tempted to keep, but can't (too much stuff)...
and these little sweeties too. Both pairs are from the 40's, so I believe.

Then onto something, of which I cannot believe my good fortune. I am a great believer in, it's who you know, rather than what you know and to my joy, I was offered by a friend, 320 Liberty fabric samples from the 1920's and 30's. They were purchased by my friend in Shropshire, from the daughter of a lady who was an Agent for Libertys in 20's and 30's. They should, I'm sure, be in an archive. I have, however, carefully stored them in a large photo album, where I can turn the pages and enjoy, as often as I like, the joy of their flowery, colourful beauty.
An heirloom, I believe. They were very expensive, but how could I say no to a once in a lifetime opportunity to own such rare and lovely pieces of fabric. How can so many little pieces of fabic bring so much happiness???
Just a few of them...

I am lucky and fortunate indeed and I know you will appreciate how much they mean to me.

Well, once again, thank you again for all your words of support and thank you for stopping by. x
