with Muriel. She came to live with us on Monday and we are all so happy and excited about being privileged enough to own her. She is a 1967 Morris Minor. We felt Muriel was the right name for her.
It's like driving a very ancient piece of farm machinery, in comparison to my little run around Corsa.
"hello"
ReplyDeleteI hope you will be taking the obligatory hamper, tartan rug and crochet cushions with you ...
How wonderful. Hope you have lots of special days out with Muriel!
ReplyDeletePerfect!
ReplyDeleteHave always loved these little old cars. Wishing you many happy day trips out! ;0
My mum is called Muriel!
ReplyDeleteShe sooo hates her name...always has!
Thankfully, she has no computer..she would go nuts if she saw this!!
Love the car! ;-)
Oh Viv, I must find the photo of me with my first car - a black Morris 1000. I don't remember what year it was but Dad bought it for me 2 days before my wedding in 1971. It cost the princely sum of £100. Sadly I wrote it off 8 months later, putting a Gas Board mini-van in a ditch!!!!
ReplyDeleteMuriel is gorgeous. I can just hear her purring. My friend had one the same colour.
Thanks for your DH comment.

She's beautiful! I used to own a red morris minor called Cyril..he was a stunner but just cost me too much to keep repairing maybe one day I'll get another......well I can hope!

Lovely, lovely, lovely! I truly A-D-O-R-E these cars. They are exactly what a car should be. I have had 2 - a saloon one and a convertible. It is my dream to have a traveller and go on holiday in it.
ReplyDeleteMy children didn't feel the same as I did and I used to have to wait round the corner if I picked them up from anywhere. The car was bad enough in their opinion and I was even more of an embarrassment!
Wonderful! You lucky thing. Muriel is my nan's name, a lovely name I think, though her birthday was well before 1967! Hope you have many happy times in her.

967 - what an exceedingly good vintage! :-) She is adorable! And (not wishing to sound like a weirdo fetish freak, but really) don't those old car interiors just smell.... well.. of lazy summer days in the country, trips to visit granny and all things golden childhood! t.x
ReplyDeleteShe is very beautiful!
ReplyDeletemy husband will be so jealous!
ReplyDeleteOh, my what a really cool and fun car. I have always thought it would be fun to have a very old car. Have a wonderful day out!
ReplyDeleteHi, welcome to the Morris club! there are lots of us about! I just love my 1962 morris she's called Dixie. I am sure you will have a lovely time travelling the highways and byways, travelling the leafy lanes at a gentle, relaxing speed.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful car, don't make them like that now, my first car was a yellow morris minor, if I turned the corner to fast the passenger door flew open, I loved that car.

How fabulous. My first car was a Morris Minor - and it was great.
ReplyDeleteGrey paintwork and red leather interior. It never let me down once - until the wheel fell off!

YOu are way tooo lucky I have always wanted a vintage car but know I would smash it up Hey Wait! my little toyota pick-up that has severed me so well and just keeps on going and is 22 years old .So I guess it is almost vintage!!
ReplyDeleteHi Viv,
ReplyDeleteI used to have a moggie thou. It was the stationwagon type and grew toadstools along the wooden bits. I hope you enjoy it as much as I loved mine.
Love your work and have added you as a blog on my blog, hope you don't mind.
Lots of goodness around your place. Had to stick my nose in when I bumped into your car pics just to say oooooh!
