Hello...
just a little post tonight to thank all of you lovelies, who have left a comment on my previous post, with regard to the 'giveaway'. The draw takes place on Friday 13th evening (UK), so please leave a comment on the same (previous) post, if you wish to be... in it to win it, as they say!
Just thought I would show you a few of the pieces made this week.
Here, a Kitty purse and above and below two small vintage tins, which I have had the 'Prim' treatment.
Below...I have free machine and hand embroidered onto old patchwork quilt...lovely texture.

Now, I wondered if I could please ask your advice???
I am seriously thinking of holding my own workshops.
I have a venue in mind, which is absolutely delightful.
It's just the subject matter???
What would you like to see offered on a Hen's Teeth Workshop? (No smut now :-))
You lovely ladies have a wealth of skill, knowledge and experience...
I would appreciate any advice you could possibly give me on the subject.

ReplyDeleteA Hen's Teeth workshop! That sounds good. A bit of free motion stitching, some embroidery and some collage. And, of course, a sprinkling of your style thrown in.
ReplyDeleteI think people would jump at the chance to go to a Hens Teeth workshop! I started workshops last September and they are doing really well. Good luck and go for it! xx

ReplyDeleteSlap you on the back and say, “Please, please” (that one nearly killed me!) Wowser! How great would that be? I would love to come to a workshop, at least to learn how to do free motion stitching without sewing my fat sausage fingers together! And the joy of meeting you Hun! ;)
Your style is unique! and so will a workshop given by you...just spread your love for embroidery and pieces of fabric around, and i think everybody is inspired.

Boy I would be the wrong person to ask because I love everything you do. I am probably your biggest fan. Sigh. Wish I lived in the same country as you so I could take a class from you. You are one of a kind. Anything you choose to do will be great I am sure. Happy New Year.

Lots and lots of questions, main one being will you be providing machines? Do they be=ring their own? Is it going to all be hand work? Brooches are always a goodie and easy to achieve in an evening/ afternoon. But if you are doing day workshops...

Oh, to learn free motion stitching from you would be so wonderful, I can sew very well, but free motion is another ballgame!

ReplyDeleteI second Sarah, all of those and more! Whatever you teach will be fab and I think most people just want to learn techniques so they can go on and put their own spin on it. I for one could spend the whole time on French Knots as I'm simply incapable of retaining the technique, must be my age!! Mx

Another idea is, do you have 'Open Studio's' your area... Have you joined in before? If not join in Viv, it's great fun, good place to generate interest in your courses...

ReplyDeleteA workshop would be great, unfortunately I live in Holland so I cannot join. But if I could, I would be interested in how to find your personal style or how you make things that aren't perfectly finished (frying and stuff)and mixing sewing and embroidery and print but the still look perfect. Not sure if I'm describing this right, it kinda sounds like an insult which it definately isn't. I love your work. But your style seems so wonderfully intuitive and loose and carefree. I'd love to learn how to do that if that is at all possible.

ReplyDeleteYour style is so individual and its such fun too. I guess it depends on how many eg tins you could get for a group project........otherwise you need to make sample projects, specifically for workshops surely? That way your own makes are entirely still your own.
ReplyDeleteWould you consider travelling to clubs to give a talk say one day and a workshop the next too? That happens at our club from time to time and we get a better deal all round. But it means you claiming travel, accom and cost too so is a bigger payemnt for you against a wknd away from home maybe...

Workshop or class?? A class is more like "make a specified product with a set outcome" good for a day or half day class where everyone makes the same thing. Easy to administer and great for an intro class or first time.
A workshop may appeal to experienced makers who just want to bask in the glow that is YOU. They come to be with you and dont really care what they make, but to soak up the magic that is your inherent style.
I'm more the soak up kind, and like to bask for at least a day. But that's just me.
