Strangely, I can't get on with wearing a thimble.  Thus, I have worn a hole in my sewing finger, that the needle keeps insisting on visiting ... sucks air through teeth.

Ouch! I know that feeling! I can't get on with thimbles either, although the leather ones I find a bit better than metal.
Your work is so beautiful and unique.I was lucky enough to see it last Spring at the Eridge Park Fair - so tiny, detailed and exquisite.
Look forward to seeing your lovely makes there again this year if you are going.

Me too, I've sewn all my life but I find a thimble gets in the way. I can still imagine how painful that hole you have feels although I haven't sewn for many months! Beautiful work Viv!

Nope-me too. I have a little jar of them, but I feel clumsy with one on my finger. The leather ones do work though, and may help your finger to heal up....
