Sunday Catch Up

I collect 1950's Stocking packets. Well really the illustration that fronts the stockings. Fabulous illustrations and this is one of them that I managed to find last week. The image is a little faded but so beautiful. I have been trying to think of something that I could make with the actual stockings. Not many ideas so far.I wanted to show you where we are lucky enough to have our caravan pitched this year. Just under the Hergst Ridge in Herefordshire. Mike Oldfield recorded an album following Tubular Bells named hergestridge He retreated to the area after Tubular Bells and could see the Hergest Ridge from his home. The Farm is so pretty. These are our views.......

These pictures were taken Saturday. The sun kept popping in and out and so did the rain clouds and the wind was enough to cut you in half. So our plans to get the awning up and make ourselves a little home from home were scuppered. I'm staying optomistic for a decent summer ;-)

A few things made this week for the up and coming Vintage and Handmade Fair vintageandhandmade . Chipping Sodbury, 30th May, 2009. Jayne and Michele have organised what is going to be a fantastic Fair. Try and come along if you can.
A collage.

The ladies here are influenced by my love of American Prim dolls/art.

A purse made from vintage French fabric.

A textile collage. I do adore this photo of this sweet little girl playing Tea parties.

A commissioned purse made from lovely old french cabbagey/rosey fabric.

This is my find of the week. A stunning Ledger. I could'nt believe my eyes when I found this beauty. I don't think I will be pulling this apart just yet...it's too beautiful. Dating from 1917!

Thank you for all of your lovely comments on my last post and if I did'nt get back to you, it's because you have a noreply e mail!
Thanks for stopping by.x

This night is getting stranger by the minute.
I come here and the first thing I read is "I collect 1950's Stocking packets." :-D
They're pretty but what an extraorinarily unusual thing to say / collect! I just visited abeautifulparty.blogspot.com and she'd bought herself a little tooth keychain and a green dog.

*looks around room*

*sees a few fairies but nothing more unusual than that*

I don't think its strange to say you collect something...
Anyway, I understand!
Great work and great to see you back in the swing.

Oh wow - I was away too in my parents caravan. We got our awning up but we had the gusty winds too which snapped an awning pole!! We had to treat it like a broken leg and splint it up with agricultural posts!!! Hope the weather improved for you

Love your purses especially the vintage cabbage rose and lace purse

Is a caravan the same as a travel trailer? We have a small Airstream that we had in the CA. desert this past weekend. It was hot, your place looks much cooler and nicer.

That ledger is fantastic!
When I was touring in 'Nicholas Nickleby', Newman Noggs had the most amazing, origional, antique ledgers; it was a show where I was absolutely dying to steal several of the props. I did nab a couple of vintage blank telegrams recently, but they were hiding in a book in a rehearsal room: one of the perks!!!
Happy camping

It is refreshing to read about your penchant for 50's stocking packets...
I used to collect old sweet papers and orange papers...
Having diverse interests makes the world so much more interesting!
Looking forward to seeing your beautiful work for real .. very soon.

Forgot to say that the Vintage and Handmade fair sounds amazing!! I´m so jealous!!! Here in Denmark there´s nothing like this - no garden festivals, no fairs - I miss it so much because we have it in Germany too, and it´s a such good opportunaty to show your work and discover new stuff! Only yesterday I talked with Tracy about how much we miss events like that.

Please post some pictures from the fair!

And you really found a gorgeous spot for your caravan, it looks so idyllic.

Hi Viv, I love the stocking packet too - how lovely - where on earth do you find these lovelies AND the leger - what a find!

Thanks for your nice answer! I guess I just need to be patient and hang on!

I just had Tracy around for a cup of tea and we were talking about how frustrating the absence of craft fairs and garden festivals is in this country, it´s not only a good way of selling your stuff and get in touch with other creative people but even to promote your webshop.

Looking forward to hear about the Vintage and Handmade Fair and I hope you sell well!

What sizes are the purses are they purses for money or purses as in american handbag/purse as they are far too beautiful to put inside a handbag
