I fell asleep beneath the flowers, for a couple of hours, on a beautiful day....

Well, here in the land of Pie Country of Staffordshire, there has been some rather troublesome goings on.
Dixie, One Eyed Wonkey and Wonkey Donkey found out by pure chance that there had been a celebration of the first day of Summer, in the Pie Country of Central California, where there is a smell of brine in the air, warm sunshine, flowers and birds... farmerjulie , donkey, hedgehog and all their friends gathered, to eat delicious home baked pies to celebrate the coming of Summer...and to be honest with you,
my three donkeys felt left out and told me so...

So I quickly rustled up a party table for them, spread with the prettiest of patchwork, the sweetest plate in all the world, bedecked with Violas and party flower hats...
but see, no hand baked pie for this hungry threesome, what is a person to do in such circumstances?   (Answer:   run to the local Spar and buy a packet of French Fancies) Pretty cakes, sickly sweet, full of E numbers and not quite in the spirit of the magnificent farm party over the sea and a bit, but .....

here they are, tucking into their cake...
Wonkey decided to change his hat to match the cake....

Then without any kind of warning, in comes Mechanical Mike, most put out that he was not invited to the first day of Summer Pie/French Fancy party, pushed Wonkey roughly out of the way, pinched his hat and helped himself to the cake, tut tut...

Dixie and One Eyed Wonkey were very upset and told him so, but you know how monkeys can be when they decide to get upto monkey business.
~0~
Now I have a dilemma....my sister in law, who lives in Australia, has arranged for many family members to meet up and stay in the Loire Valley, France soon, which we are looking forward to very much....but I am worried sick as to whom I should asked to accompany us.   Wonkey Donkey came with us to Kent for the seaside air, but who should come to France?   Should it be One eyed Wonkey's turn or Dixie Donkey?
I may have to toss a coin.
Mechanical Mike will certainly not be asked after his dreadful and anti-social behaviour of today.
Any help in this matter would be most welcome.
All of this aside, happy summertime to all our dear friends near and far.
Thank you for stopping by.x

Ha ha ha! I think the sun has gone to your head missus! But it is so wonderful to actually have a bit of sunshine. I keep lugging stuff outside to work on but then getting a bit dazzled and unable to see and having to come back in a again.
By the way, I can't see MM in any of the pictures...

Well now, I think One-eye deserves a treat and a trip to the land of pastry would be just the thing.
I do admire all their choices of haberdashery. And hope their eating habits were not quite as shocking as thier California cousins.
Do have them send a post card from the Loire

Such decisions cannot be made by the toss of a coin for heaven's sake...
You will have to tell them that journeying abroad will be decided on Good Behaviour over the next weeks.
And whoever is left will have a marvellous present brought back for him, as compensation.

Viv - what a wonderful story, you should go into print, your story really made me smile this afternoon - thank you.
Take all of the bonky donkeys, you could tell the naughty boy that this is his last chance and he can come to but if he mis-behaves that's it!!!

I love the Loire Valley :) it's beautiful and lovely and hot. Some beautiful Chatuex's along it and Smaur (if you are going there) has a great market. Another one that was really good was Doue-la-fontaine, they had a brilliant market that runs right through the town )which is actually pretty small).

Hope you enjoy it!

I think you are quite right about that pesky monkey.Monkeys of that kind can not be trusted to behave in any kind of social situation. i would say One eye should go, but he does look as though he has a delicate constitution and is happiest at home with a blankie over his back taking the weight off his hooves. Would he be able to cope with all that foreign food? I would hate for him to get a dickie tummy.

Take them all and avoid any rivalry...
Either way have a lovely time.

Maybe Mechanical Mike senses he is not as well loved as the others and is acting out his feeling of loneliness in attention seeking behavior? Consider taking him, I am sure he would be better behaved if he felt more included. Now I'm not saying this is a fault of yours, toys require lots of attention and some of them are just greedy for it. Give Mike a go, he might surprise you!

I think this little threesome are a family and, like any family, would love a day out together - mechanical mike will only learn by example so please let them all come with you! (p.s. did you know you can get passports via internet shops for your toys? we had them when our boys were little for two teddies that travelled and they were given stamps at various entry points (France are particularly accommodating). I've posted your work on my blog today - I can't tell you how much i love that make. It is so special.
