You do it to yourself, you do and that's what really hurts...

Hello,
just a few images from the Cotswold Vintage Fair I attended yesterday.
A really lovely event.  Goodness there were so many things beautiful things to buy.

Refreshments from lavinias tea party.
kittys
to name just a few...

and moi...
I have decided to change my stand from this style.
Very useful having the shelves for my purses, but I can't see a thing.
I have to stand in the middle gap and look out over horsey!
The old legs won't stand for a whole day, so when I perch, I disappear and that's no good.
So I thought I would perhaps buy a few smallish suitcases and use those as a props.   Oh I don't know, it's so hard to showcase everything properly and still be visable and able to have a conversation with friends and customers.
Practicality and a pleasant looking stand ain't easy :)

I have always enjoyed working on old envelopes. I have been embellishing them now for twelve years or so.
I love everything about them...the old paper, the postage stamps, post marks, hand writing etc. etc.
I have recently started to hand paint birds, Black birds...
I now apply the finished article to reclaimed wooden blocks, to stand or hang.
I really like the chunky blocks ...
with their knots and blemishes...
I think they compliment what I do.
All these pieces are in my madebyhandonline shop.

Just popped this hand painted/stitched brooch into Etsy
 and this Kitty needlecase too.

Happy Bank Holiday all you lovely Brits.
Thanks for stopping by. x

Wow what a lot of gorgeous items to tempt, did you succumb? I think displaying your work is one of the hardest things to do. I do love props though, have managed to get one small suitcase and a couple of woooden boxes but seem to change every fair I have done, (not that many!!). I love your envelopes and the wooden blocks. jayne x

Oooh, all those lovely things! I know what you mean about display, my shop is getting ever fuller and fuller and my space that i stand in gets smaller and smaller - he! he! I have some gorgeous vintage table cloths and tray cloths that i put in an old wine box, but they haven't been noticed for ages so my job today is to get them all out and put them over ladders - it might work (probably be forever picking them up though!) - Met a lady called Annie in the shop the other week and she sends her love (i asked annie who and she said you'd know) - i think she did the wearhouse. see you soon xxxx

It was a fab day at Toddington. I hardly saw you, it was so busy! I know what you mean about getting the stand "right" and being able to rest your pins! Lizzie x

Aw that's a pity as the blue background realy makes your pieces stand out. I only someone would organise one of these lovely fairs in the North East as we have nothing like it up here, I'd be the first to buy up all your stall, Lucey x

Lovely to look over at your smiling face all day on Saturday Viv! And your stand too...as always it was impeccable!...I can understand your reluctance to stand all day though...it does take its toll on the back and legs...I collapsed in a heap when I got home! ;-))

Hope you had a successful day,
Niki x
