International Festival of Quilts

Depending on which end of the day you are...I suggest either a cup of tea or a glass of wine to sustain you through this post, as it's a bit of a long one!

Locally for me this is a busy weekend. Not only is it the Festival of Quilts, 20 miles down the M6 but 2 miles away we have the 'V' Festival. Our locality is at total grid lock, as I think the number is 50,000. music lovers visit our local stately pile for a bit of 'Muse' and 'The Verve' amongst many others. Amy Winehouse is supposed to be singing again this year.....she was in the line up to sing last year, but did'nt bother to turn up! Wonder whether she will this year?

Weaved our way through the back and side roads and visited the Festival of Quilts. My mom and I visit each year and we both thoroughly enjoy this event. It really is quite something.
Few randomn photos here:
Elbows at dawn....
Everyone sports there very best handmade handbag, skirt, jacket, brooch, pendants etc.
Don't you just want to run your fingers along these?
A few of the many quilts displayed.....

Back to 'V'......this was last year. Mark and myself visited it on the Sunday. It was quite an experience as the weather was very cruel (no change there then) and the mud and muck was truly incredible. But it was all worth it to see Snow Patrol!

This little pic sums that day up (this is not us by the way).
Anyway on the way back from the NEC yesterday, we wound our way back through the lanes to avoid the car parks otherwise known at the M6, A449 and A5....but caught up in this traffic jam.

Here are a few of my purchases, thought you might like to see.

Stef Francis linen threads, she has an online shop here ........ divine!
Bought some rusty bits and pieces for my primitive art stuff.

Gorgeous beads from thesouthamptonbeadshop This lovely lady had some beautiful work and patterns for sale. Check her website and blog, really interesting.

More fabric :-)
And then the best bit of the day meeting Jackie of dogdaisychains, we had a lovely few minutes together....she is wonderful.
These were what she gave me, so generous and kind. (Jackie's on the left).

Made my day!
I have another post to do later....thanks for stopping by x
